Eclipse Baroque Fusion

at the Electric Palace Cinema, Bridport, 7, 8 March 2008

Eclipse Baroque Fusion's 'Spanish Spice' comprises lively early Spanish music with a modern twist evoking the atmosphere of a gypsy encampment, with virtuoso improvisations on harps, recorders, viol, guitar, theorbo and percussion. Eclipse performs exhilarating flamencos, lyrical ensemble pieces and the swirling passionate tarantella, in a performance brimming with kaleidoscopic moods and colours. The guest artist of the programme, flamenco and contemporary dancer Gabriela Rosa, creates an exciting link between early music and the folk world of flamenco dance.

Some of the notices they've had:

The children on Friday The artists from Eclipse Baroque Fusion will work all day on Friday with children from St Mary's Primary School, Bridport and Burton Bradstock Primary School to teach them a short song and a dance, which they will perform alongside the professionals at the matinee later in the day.

The Electric Palace   Quoting from the Observer Magazine, the restored Electric Palace has turned Bridport into a 'cultural hub to reckon with'. The Observer refers to the Electric Palace as an art-house cinema and brasserie backed by Richard Eyre, Mike Leigh, and others. But it is also much more than this. It is now a venue for theatre, pantomime, opera, cabaret and live music of all types. Its beautiful interior has been complemented by huge original art works upon the theme of entertainment tricked out around the walls and an elegant cocktail bar has also been added. It's a truly electrifying experience to visit the new Electric Palace.

Abbotsbury Music is a local charity whose aim is to promote professional music of a high standard and associated art forms in our rural area. We try to make it accessible to our residents and the many visitors to the area. As we have no venue of our own, we are able to take our productions to different and exciting venues. So we are very grateful to Peter Hitchin for giving us this opportunity in The Electric Palace Cinema, Bridport, which he has rescued and revamped with such flair.
