'The Impresario' by Mozart is the story of two divas competing for the lead in a new opera, resulting in some most amusing spats and exchanges of insults. The New Garden Opera Company has twinned this with 'Pagliacci' by Leoncavallo, a tale of lust, betrayal and treachery within a group of travelling players.
Fully staged and costumed performance of The Impressario and Pagliacci sung in an English translation.
Abbotsbury Music is presenting this new production by The Garden Opera Company indoors in the restored Electric Palace, South Street, Bridport, which was built originally as an opera house.
Doors and bars will be open from 6.30pm. Tickets and seats are numbered. If you need wheelchair access please let us know in advance. We can only accomodate wheelchairs in the stalls.
We have gone indoors, driven by the horrid weather. For the first ten years of our outdoor operas we could rely on tolerable summer evenings, but in the last three years things have changed.
Our performance will be part of The New Garden Opera Company's British tour 2011.
