JAMES BOYD

Classical Guitarist

Classical guitarist James Boyd is one of the most talented guitarists of his generation and is holder of the prestigious Julian Bream Guitar Prize and the Robert Spencer Memorial Award. His interest in the combination of voice and guitar has enabled him to work with many fine artists, including Michael Chance, Robin Tyson of the King Singers and the outstanding young tenor Robin Tritschler.

James Boyd has a specific interest in British modern and contemporary guitar repertoire and is committed to the promotion of new works for the instrument. He has had several pieces written for him, the latest of which, a work for voice and guitar, composed by John Webb, receives its première at the Royal Academy of Music in November 2002.

It was at the age of seven that James first began playing the guitar, later winning a place at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he graduated with honours in 2000.
